Building a Sustainable U.S. Offshore Industry

Vestas is a leading offshore wind turbine manufacturer with 8+ GW of offshore wind installed to date. We are the preferred supplier for the 2.1 GW Empire Wind offshore project in New York as well as Atlantic Shores’ 1.5 GW offshore project in New Jersey. The two projects will generate enough clean energy to power over a million U.S. homes each year.1,2

Offshore wind presents real opportunities to create good-paying jobs and long-term investments here in the U.S. Vestas is taking an active role in building a sustainable U.S. offshore industry that will bring long-term economic impacts to local communities.

Last year alone, Vestas spent $1.6 billion in the U.S. across 1,200 vendors to support our onshore business. We look forward to working with partners across the value chain to support the build out of the U.S. offshore industry and establish long-term supply chains to serve regional markets.

Delivering the First U.S. Offshore Projects

We have a long history of deploying reliable, optimized offshore technology that is backed by a reliable supply chain and manufacturing footprint. In fact, Tunø Knob is the oldest commercial offshore wind farm and its Vestas turbines are still in operation today!

In order to meet the U.S.'s ambitious offshore wind goals and achieve the clean energy transmission, we must get turbines in the water.

The industry-leading V236-15.0 MW™ is the first ever 15 MW turbine and is poised to be the first to power and ensure the first U.S. projects are delivered on time!

Since launch of V236-15.0 MW™ in 2021, Vestas has secured more than 10 GW of preferred supplier agreements across the globe.

The V236-15.0 MW™ prototype set a world record for the most power output by a single wind turbine in a 24-hour period!

With blades taller than the Statue of Liberty, the V236-15.0 MW™ generates enough clean energy to power more than 20,000 homes!
